Description
Willett Family Estate Bottled Single Barrel Bourbon “November Rain” is part of Willett’s highly regarded purple-top single barrel program, where each barrel is individually selected and bottled with its own unique identity. This particular barrel (commonly referenced as Barrel No. 4383) was aged for approximately 9 years in new charred American white oak, allowing for strong interaction with the barrel and deep flavor concentration over time.
Bottled at an extremely high 137.2 proof, this expression represents the upper tier of Willett’s single barrel output. Such high proof levels are typically the result of long aging combined with significant evaporation in warehouse conditions, concentrating both alcohol and flavor intensity into a powerful final whiskey.
On the nose, “November Rain” typically shows rich caramel, brown sugar, vanilla bean, dark cherry, and toasted oak, often followed by subtle floral or fruity undertones that are characteristic of select Willett barrels. The palate is full-bodied and dense, delivering waves of toffee, molasses, baked fruit, cinnamon spice, cocoa, and leather, with a noticeable but controlled heat despite the high proof. The finish is long and warming, leaving behind oak spice, dark sugar, pepper, and lingering sweetness.
What makes this release especially sought after is the balance between extreme barrel strength and complex sweetness, something not all high-proof bourbons achieve. The nickname “November Rain” adds collector appeal, but the real value lies in its barrel character—deep, rich, and intensely concentrated.
