This specific release comes from Barrel No. 4383 and was aged for approximately 9 years in new charred American white oak barrels, developing deep concentration and heavy barrel influence over time.
Bottled at 137.2 proof, this is an exceptionally strong expression even by barrel-proof bourbon standards. The high proof reflects intense evaporation over nearly a decade of aging, which concentrates both flavor and alcohol strength. Despite its intensity, well-selected Willett barrels like this are known for maintaining structure and balance rather than becoming overly harsh.
On the nose, it typically shows rich caramel, burnt sugar, dark cherry, toasted oak, vanilla cream, and baking spice. The palate is full-bodied and dense, delivering waves of toffee, molasses, dried fruit, cinnamon, leather, and sweet oak char, often with a slight floral or fruity “Willett funk” that adds complexity. The finish is long and warming, with lingering oak spice, dark sugar, and peppery heat.
