The Macallan Reflexion is a crown jewel within The Macallan Masters Decanter Series, created to celebrate the distillery’s unwavering commitment to 100% natural color and exceptional wood management. Unlike standard releases that rely on massive butts or puncheons, Reflexion is matured exclusively in smaller sherry-seasoned oak hogsheads. Because these smaller casks have a greater wood-to-liquid surface area, they accelerate the maturation process, allowing the spirit to interact intensely with both the Spanish and American white oak.
Every single drop of Reflexion comes from first-fill casks, meaning the wood has never held anything other than Oloroso sherry before the new-make spirit was introduced. This imparts an incredibly concentrated, decadent flavor profile and a deep, natural amber-mahogany color that is beautifully showcased by the decanter’s angular, light-refracting facets. Bottled at an elegant 43% ABV (86 proof), it balances Macallan’s signature rich, oily texture with a remarkably vibrant and fresh spice profile.
