The Macallan 18 Year Old Sherry Oak is far more than a premium bottle of scotch—it is an international icon of status, patience, and uncompromising quality. While many modern distilleries save money by aging their whisky in standard ex-bourbon barrels and only “finishing” it in sherry casks for a few months, Macallan takes a completely uncompromised approach. This expression spends the entirety of its 18-year maturation inside exceptional European oak casks that were built, toasted, and seasoned with fine Oloroso sherry for up to two years in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
This intensive and incredibly expensive wood program allows the new-make spirit to slowly transform over nearly two decades. The European oak imparts a signature heavy, oily texture and draws out a deep, 100% natural mahogany hue from the wood sugars. Bottled at an elegant 43% ABV (86 proof), the Macallan 18 Sherry Oak offers an unparalleled depth of flavor that manages to be massively complex without ever letting the wood tannins turn bitter, striking a flawless equilibrium between robust spice and dark dessert sweetness.
