The whisky itself is a masterful marriage of two distinct oak styles. New-make spirit is aged in hand-selected American oak casks that are shipped to Spain to be seasoned with fine Oloroso sherry, alongside traditional European oak sherry casks. The American oak injects delicate, soft flavors of creamy vanilla, citrus, and sweet butterscotch, while the European oak provides Macallan’s signature backing of rich dried fruits and warming spices.
