Description
Old Forester Kentucky Straight Rye Whisky is a spectacular homage to a historic recipe from 1940. While many modern ryes push toward a nearly solid “95% rye” grain bill, Old Forester uses a highly distinct, well-balanced recipe: 65% rye, 20% malted barley, and 15% corn. The generous amount of malted barley triggers an incredibly smooth, natural fermentation process that yields a far more floral, complex, and richly textured spirit than your average rye.
Bottled at a sturdy 100 proof, this whiskey is specifically engineered to hold its own against mixers, ice, and vermouth. It provides the bold, peppery kick that rye lovers crave, but rounds out any sharp corners with a lovely dessert-like sweetness and an oily, mouth-coating weight that makes it punch far above its modest price point.
