Four Roses Small Batch Select represents a major milestone for the historic distillery, standing as their first permanent, non-chill filtered addition to the lineup in decades. While standard bourbons are crafted from a single mash bill, Four Roses utilizes a unique matrix of two distinct mash bills and five proprietary yeast strains to create ten completely individual bourbon recipes. For Small Batch Select, Master Distiller Brent Elliott hand-selects and marries six of these distinct recipes (specifically OBSV, OBSK, OBSO, OESV, OESK, and OESO), each aged between 6 to 7 years.
By opting out of modern chill-filtering, the distillery preserves all the natural, rich barrel fatty acids and aromatic oils that give whiskey its thick, luxurious texture. Combined with a commanding 52% ABV (104 Proof), this technique allows the liquid to deliver maximum flavor concentration. The heavy rye content of the mash bills creates a robust, spicy structure that anchors a beautiful symphony of bright fruits and deep wood vanillins—making it a stellar top-shelf feature for premium e-commerce storefronts.
