High West American Prairie Bourbon San Diego Barrel Boys Barrel Select is a special single-barrel-style private selection built on the foundation of High West American Prairie Bourbon and chosen in partnership with San Diego Barrel Boys. Like other High West barrel select releases, this expression starts with American Prairie Bourbon and is then finished in a secondary cask for an extended period, creating a one-of-a-kind flavor profile that differs from the standard bottling. Because these releases are barrel-specific, details such as barrel number, finish type, finish time, and ABV can vary from one San Diego Barrel Boys pick to another.

One documented San Diego Barrel Boys release, Barrel #18055, was finished for 7 months in a Ruby Port cask and bottled at 47.2% ABV, giving the whiskey a richer, fruit-forward edge on top of American Prairie’s smooth bourbon base. Another listed San Diego Barrel Boys bottling, Barrel #19787, was finished for 8 months in a peated whiskey barrel and bottled at 49.8% ABV, showing how dramatically these picks can differ depending on the cask used. In general, American Prairie Barrel Select expressions are known for balancing sweet bourbon notes like caramel, vanilla, honey, and cornbread-like grain sweetness with extra layers of fruit, oak, smoke, or spice from the finishing barrel.
