Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a masterful exploration of wood chemistry from Heaven Hill Distillery. It honors the pioneering spirit of the Reverend Elijah Craig by introducing a cutting-edge twist to traditional barrel aging, resulting in a flavor profile that is uniquely decadent, sweet, and wonderfully oak-forward.
The creation of this highly allocated bourbon begins with fully matured Elijah Craig Small Batch. Once the liquid has achieved its peak complexity, it is dumped from its original home and transferred into a second, custom-made container for a secondary finishing period.
Heaven Hill partnered with the renowned Independent Stave Company to engineer these finishing barrels. Crafted from new oak staves that are air-dried for 18 months, the interiors are moderately toasted and then flash-charred. This process caramelizes the natural wood sugars deep within the grain without introducing the harsh, bitter tannins of a heavy char.
Bottled at 47% ABV (94 Proof), the secondary maturation coaxes out an abundance of sweet pastry notes, giving the bourbon a rich, mahogany-hued body and a dense, dessert-like mouthfeel that consistently drives high engagement and search volume across online storefronts.
